“Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee” Sports Portrait Painting of Muhammad Ali
“Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee” Sports Portrait Painting of Muhammad Ali, captures the champion in this original pastel painting as the powerful winner of a fifteen round KO against Oscar Bonavena on December 7, 1970, in New York.
Muhammad Ali was 28 when he fought Oscar Bonavena and had already won 31 fights! This three time Heavy Weight Champion of the World stands over his opponent declaring his victory. Muhammad Ali’s professional records are 56 wins, 5 losses and 37 wins by KO! “Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee” was a phase the Champion Muhammed Ali used announcing his incredible boxing skills.
“Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like a Bee” Sports Portrait Painting of Muhammad Ali was created using mainly darker subtle colors as brown for the gloves, a slight red hue in the ropes and the blood and a slight purple mixed in the background putting the spotlight on Muhammad Ali. I was inspired to create this piece after seeing some historic photographs by Neil Leifer, sport photographer and watching the fights replayed on TV.
This Framed Pastel Painting of Muhammad Ali is a part of the Artist’s Collection.
