As the owner recounted Bacchus’s life to the artist, she emphasized that Bacchus was more than just a pet; he was larger than life and had a special place in their hearts. The artist, determined to capture all the nuances of the “ESSENCE OF BACCHUS”, focused on his expressive eyes and endearing smile, even at the age of thirteen. The goal was to portray Bacchus not just as a pet, but as a beloved family member and canine friend.
To add a sentimental touch, the artist included a baby paw print on the portrait painting before framing it. This small detail added an extra layer of significance to the portrait, making it even more special to the grieving owners. Pet Portrait Painting: Madison, the Blue Point Himalaya Cat, stood tall and regal after a thorough grooming session. His luxurious fur was perfectly groomed, showcasing the beauty of his unique breed. With a slight turn of his face, Madison struck a pose that captured the elegance and grace of his species.
A memorial commission was undertaken to create a pet portrait painting of Madison, and the owner and client provided several pictures of their beloved cat, even including a lock of his fur as a reference. Extensive research on the Blue Point Himalaya Breed was conducted to ensure accuracy in capturing Madison’s distinctive characteristics using the pastel medium. The client’s discussions about their cherished pet also provided valuable insights.
Based on the approved sketch to scale, the pet portrait painting was meticulously created with hard and soft pastels. The background was intentionally left unpainted, as Madison Blue, as he was fondly called, was the main focus of the artwork. The heavy, acid-free art paper with its textured surface added depth and dimension to Madison’s fur, truly capturing his magnificence in this pet portrait painting.
