“Two Young Men” Family Portrait Painting
“TWO YOUNG MEN” family portrait painting was commissioned by Mr. Goorland there father to celebrate his two sons during a pivotal moment in their lives, at the ages of 16 and 21. This pastel painting became a deeply cherished piece of art, reflecting not only the bond between the brothers but also their growing strength and maturity.
Before the painting began, a detailed pencil sketch was created to scale for Mr. Goorland’s approval. The sketch, carefully crafted to capture the essence of his sons, was met with great enthusiasm. Throughout the creation process, there were numerous discussions and critiques, refining every detail to ensure the final portrait truly honored his vision.
The composition of the portrait was thoughtfully planned. The young men, seated on a bench, posed themselves naturally, exuding a quiet confidence. The background, featuring magnificent multi tree trunks adding texture with cascading leaves, symbolized their strength and connection to nature, grounding the scene in a timeless, organic beauty. This natural setting, combined with their strong yet relaxed posture, perfectly embodied their youthful vigor and individuality.
Mr. Goorland was delighted with the final composition, which seamlessly blended the brothers’ personalities with the serene environment. The completed pastel portrait was prominently displayed in his law office at Ruden, McCloskey, Smith, Schuster, and Russell, where it became a treasured centerpiece that drew admiration from colleagues and visitors alike.
The success of this portrait inspired Mr. Goorland to commission a second painting, this time of his sister’s two sons, further extending his appreciation for family and the lasting legacy of these personalized works of art.
